I decided to cast it using the Lost Foam Casting technique

It's a simple process. The whole knife was easily carved and sanded from extruded foam, then it was covered in sand and molten aluminium poured on top. Okay, there's a little more to it than that, but once you've come to terms with the basics of casting, it's remarkably easy to cast a knife or anything else at home.
